Sizing / Pricing
At CakeByDesign we start here, but we have endless possibilities.
We use a fairly standard sizing chart for deciding how big your cake(s) should be. We try to get as close as we can to the exact number of servings that you require. Shaped cakes are a bit of a different story, but we will work to your budget.
Ingredients and decorations may affect the overall cost of your cake. Please tell us what your expectations are, and we will work with you from there.
Our prices are competitive with other bakeries in Calgary. We can not compete with grocery-store cakes. Conversely, they can not compete with us. We start from scratch, and we pay special care and attention to your cake.
The price of our cakes start at $3.00 per serving. Depending on the ingredients and decorations prices will increase. We must re-state here that if you let us know what you want, and what your budget is up- front, we will be able to accommodate your needs, but more importantly, your wants.
Slab cakes are 2” tall with one layer of filling
Serving sizes for slab cakes are 2” x 2” x 2”
Square and Round cakes
Cakes can either be 4” tall with 3 layers of filling, or 2” tall with one layer of filling, depending on your needs. A smaller gathering will require less cake than a larger number of people.
Shaped Cakes - Amount of filling is dependent on the individual cake.
Barbie Cake – serves 24 - 30
Ball Cake (medium or large half) – serves 12
Ball Cake (large - full ball) - serves 24
Belly Cake (small) - serves 15 - 20
Teddy Bear Cake (small) – serves 2
Teddy Bear Cake (large) – serves 24
Jumbo Cupcakes - (multiples of 6)
Large Cupcakes - (multiples of 12)
Sculpted cakes are priced on an individual basis.
In our photos we show cakes shaped like airplanes, shoes, artist palettes, mugs, centaurs... and many other sculpted cakes. Essentially, if you can think it, we can create it. We will work with you to meet your needs and your budget.
